iHempWA, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Iggy Van as its new Chairperson.

Mr Van has recently been involved with iHempWA in strategic and leadership initiatives and replaces Mr Armando Formica who has filled the role of Chairperson since 2021.

It is fantastic to have Iggy Van on board. In his recent work on strategy with us he has already shown great vision and leadership which will position the association firmly in all things hemp, to be globally aware and act locally”, Mr David Chick, Secretary of the association said.

Mr Van is founder and CEO of Hemp Squared, manufacturer of industrial hemp building materials in Bridgetown Western Australia and has a strong background in management and leadership.

It is an absolute honour to be trusted to represent iHempWA as Chairperson. The exponential growth in the industrial hemp industry experienced worldwide brings many opportunities for Western Australia and indeed Australia. We are at the start of moving to the next step after amazing work to get to where we are by the many people involved in the hemp industry. To move the industry to the next level is a challenge, but we will drive policy development, education, support for industry, research and innovation to make hemp a mainstream product in everyday life for everyone”, said Mr Van.

Hemp Seed legalised for human consumption in OZ & NZ

Well actually only de-natured (dead) hemp seed is legal to eat. Gosh what would happen to society if people could buy whole living hemp seeds to eat as mother nature provides, sprouted seed, micro greens or even fresh raw leaves from a small bushy tree laden with more seeds to feed the family… Oh no we can’t have that… Oh yes we did prior prohibition. We remain grateful for small miracles.  https://www.sbs.com.au/food/article/2017/11/09/hemp-food-legal-sunday
